SUMMER STORM is a grand tactical/operational treatment of the three days of battle that ended Robert E. Lee's summer offensive in June and July of 1863. While the scale of the game, at 200 yards per hex, is semi-tactical, the actual game mechanics have been kept as simple and playable as possible in order to allow the focus of the game to be on the problems of battlefield command. The Operational game presents the players with the challenge of maneuvering a scattered army into battle in the face of an enemy of unknown size and location.

GAME COMPONENTS
(3) 22 x 34" Grand Tactical maps at 200 yards per hex - two covering the bulk of the battlefield while the third is split to square up the area and add in the eastern cavalry battlefield. The area of the entire map will stretch from McKnightstown on the west to past Granite Hill on the east, and adds about a mile north and south to the area covered by most other Gettysburg games. The level of detail and the analysis and treatment of terrain will be comparable to that of the earlier map Rick did for GMT's Three Days of Gettysburg. Each daytime game turn represents 1 hour, but due to the nature of the command system the number of action impulses in a given turn can vary widely.

(2) 17" x 22" Operational Maps - identical, to allow for the "double-blind" Operational Game.

980 counters/markers - Each unit counter represents approximately 600 men or 6 to 8 guns, so Brigades will be represented on the board by 1 to 3 counters. For simplicity and playability the differences in a unit's Combat Strength represent prorating for morale, training and historical performance.

Two orders cards - one for each army, to allocate Divisional Activation Chits (DAC's), track Army and Corps Commander Points, etc.

While the game is a "mini-monster" in size, the level of complexity is only about a 5 out of 10. The overall simulational effect of the game is similar to The Gamers' Civil War Brigade Series, but we use kindler, gentler mechanics to produce the same effect with less effort.

There have been some great games released depicting this great battle, but you will not want your collection to be without what you may find to be the most intense Gettysburg simulation you've played yet! Order today...you will be glad you did.
