A BRIDGE TOO FAR Game Rating Commentary

"HASL is a unique experience. It all started with the desperate Russians huddled in the factories of Stalingrad. Now the same tension is given to the British paras in Arnhem with this new HASL. Even though in game terms Monty's tank column is nowhere in sight, the British player will feel the noose of time tightening around his neck as the German SS attempt to overcome their own problems and attempt a fatal blow to the last walking wounded in block by bloody block fighting. The entire German SS OB comes in black. The map is good looking at portrays the blocks well, which are used for control purposes in the CG. The scenarios range from the simplest SS attack to the final blow given in a large scenario depicting the situation in the final days. This is another solid product and one that shows MMP is on the right track. The future of ASL looks good from here."

"Ranks alongside Red Barricades for the best ASL experience. Some of the most enjoyable scenarios in print, and a fine campaign game. Don't forget to bring a chocolate bar for your British opponent when he starts complaining about the ammo shortage."

"On the heels of God Save The King and Arnhem: The Third Bridge comes what should be the last word in ASL terms for this battle. Obviously the mapsheet covers the same area as those of the other two modules, and the scenarios cover the battle, with specific overlap with both the previous packages. But there's the MMP produced rules, and what a pleasure it is to read this. Four pages for Arnhem, clear and tight with the ASL rule book [unlike A:TTB], and a Campaign Game that anyone with experience with RB can start immediately. Fully integrated into the ASL system, and a pleasure to have at last."

"I have played three scenarios, found all three to be superbly balanced and intense fights. I can't wait to try a Campaign Game!"

"Wow! We haven't stopped playing this since we got it. If you like Red Barricades this is a must. City fighting at it's best: Wounded British holding critical buildings, Tanks running everywhere, no G@! D@%% antitank weapons (sure there's PIATs with no ammo left), SS Troops everywhere, and British with no hope of reinforcements (or Campaign Purchase Points)! What else could you possibly want in a game?"

"Overall a great package - great map, tight special rules, clear and concise CG's, and the five scenarios I've played from it have been very balanced and a blast to play. Great work!"

"Great historical recreation of one of the most compelling stories of WWII. Beautiful map and not so sprawling that you can't keep track of everything. The scenarios play in one sitting and the campaign game is loads of fun. Both sides get turns at playing attacker and defender."

"Best HASL CG I tried yet. You really have to know how to attack when in superior numbers, and how to defend when you are outnumbered and far-outclassed (And this for both sides)."

"OK, but nothing new. Suppose continuation of the series is a plus, but it's a small plus."
