LA BATAILLE DE LUTZEN Game Rating Commentary

Most Excellent
3.86

"This game has lots of strategic possibilities. That makes for interesting gaming. You can find three or four ways to fight this battle from each side, and I like that. As usual the units are works of art that beg to be fought with."

"Certainly, the best of the best. Ed, et al., at COA did a first rate job of adjusting the standard La Bataille rules for this battle. There is nothing like seeing the Prussians charge down on the helpless French only to see them overwhelmed by masses of French troops later in the game. For anyone interested in Napoleonic battles, this is a must have."

"Best La Bat game yet. Good one for beginners as lots of the forces start off map and arrive as reinforcements."

"The game requires relearning several rules from previous editions of the "La bataille" system. The "feel" of the napoleonic battle, however, is incomparable. The use of the Movement Unit system speeds up play considerably and makes the game playable solitaire. Many of the ambiguities in the rules from previous editions are explained or replaced with a more playable version. The battle in progress not only looks colorful but also requires the player to lead his units with a 19th Century frame of mind. Skirmishers and cannons deplete the enemy front lines. When the moment is right, heavy cavalry shatters the enemy line. Yet, properly positioned reserves can frustrate the assault and blunt the attack leaving the attacker disordered and routed. In all, a game Napoleon Bonaparte himself would have enjoyed."

"Best battle yet in La Bataille series and a splendid updated rules book. Especially the rules book is a big thumbs up. The battle is very tense and bloody. Great game!"

"Superior counter art; excellent maps; this is the 3rd title I have played in the La Batt Series (excluding Moscowa). I didn't have any problems with the rules as others have commented."
