1904-05 RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR Game Rating Commentary

Most Excellent
3.57

"All game sessions ended in massive Japanese victories (different players on different sides). Though historically correct it raises questions about play balance regarding victory conditions. Otherwise a very interesting subject, good simulation and fun (except for the Russian players)"

"Fine application of the GWAS system to a slightly earlier time period. Like all GWAS, a great model of the operational decisions that had to be made."

"I wanted a simple way to play out Naval tactical engagements, don't have and minis etc. But this system is too simple. The battles reassemble rugby scrums more than a naval battle. In addition the ships are too fragile. It should be very hard to sink a ship with gunfire alone. When I now play I double the number of hull boxes and the results seem much better."

"Yet another home run for the increasingly misnamed Great War at Sea series."

"Very good treatment of a little seen topic."

"Just having a blast playing a game on a little gamed situation in history. The GWAS system seems perfect for this type of conflict."
