Decline in Historical Wargaming: Opinion

Richard Hutnik poses the following question on the rec.board.games Newsgroup:

"Do people think that a role in the decline of historical wargames, is partly the result of the fact that we don't have major wars going on?"

Every so often, discussions regarding the decline or demise of historical gaming are touched upon - usually couched in terms of "computer gaming vs. boardgaming." However, Mr. Hutni takes a slightly different approach in attempting to solicite comments from others.
