A Strange New (Distirbutor) World

Jeffrey Tibbets of Pacific Rim Publishing has offered his own unique take on the demise of the Distribution Channel for historical boardgaming. Tibbets identifies several individuals who contributed to this demise. His comments were originally aired on the Consim-L MailList, but were reproduced with further commentary on the ConsimWorld Discussion Board.

While the overall reaction of the gaming public is that of quickly dismissing Mr. Tibbets' claims (offering a target-rich environment for many), which in itself is not particularly surprising or newsworthy based on Pacific Rim's poor publishing track record, the continued discussions which properly focus on changes in the distributor channel is what makes the overall exchange worth looking into. Publishers Mike Beninghof, Gene Billingsley, and Dean Essig provide their own take on the Distributor Channel, and how they have structured their Sales Model.
