Bridge Over The River Mattapony: Union Strategies For ON TO RICHMOND!

As reported by ConsimWorld.COM on 10/01/98, Ed Beach, co-designer of ON TO RICHMOND!, has been very proactive in responding to questions, and has run for some time now an impressive Web site supporting the entire GREAT CAMPAIGNS OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR game series, published by TAHGC.

Due to the passing of Avalon Hill in the Hasbro acquisition, Ed Beach has just released an excellent Union Strategy piece for ON TO RICHMOND! Normally, this article would have first appeared in THE GENERAL magazine, but Ed took it upon himself to self-publish in light of the discontinuation of the magazine. This article consists of five parts:

Overall Objectives
Invasion Site Selection
Phases of the Campaign
Peripheral Theaters
Operational Details

About ON TO RICHMOND! (Release date: July 1998)

ON TO RICHMOND! covers McClellan's 1862 Peninsula Campaign. The sixth in the GREAT CAMPAIGNS OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR series, it includes 8 new scenarios, including several hypothetical battles (like a Union attack at the gates of Richmond!). Includes historical scenarios like the Seven Days battle, Williamsburg, Eltham's Landing, and Seven Pines.

ON TO RICHMOND! is suitable for 2 or more players. The game includes:

Clear and concise rules manual, including historical perspectives, advanced rules, several scenarios, and designer's notes. You don't need to have played the other Great Campaigns games to jump right into this one. New advanced rules cover amphibious movement and gunboats. Two beautifully hand-painted maps of the areas around Richmond. High-quality components representing various Union and Confederate troops and units.

Fans of the Great Campaigns of the American Civil War series won't want to pass up the others in the series: STONEWALL JACKSON'S WAY, STONEWALL IN THE VALLEY, STONEWALL'S LAST BATTLE, HERE COME THE REBELS, and ROADS TO GETTYSBURG.

Placing your Order
ON TO RICHMOND! ($40) can no longer be ordered directly from Avalon Hill, but should be available from fine hobby stores and direct mail order houses.
