VIMEIRO Marks Launch of New Peninsular War Series

Release date: May 1999

Markham Designs' new release is VIMEIRO, covering Wellington's victory in Portugal, 21 August 1808. The game is the first in the new, La Guerra de la Independencia series of games that will focus on the battles on the Iberian Peninsula during the Napoleonic Wars, 1808 to 1814. Vimeiro was Wellington's first battle in the Peninsula and his first victory. At battalion level, the system introduces some entirely new concepts to wargaming.

While innovative, the system is at the same time very playable and should be a welcome change of pace from more complex games. Current plans are for the release of 4 to 5 games a year in the series with the clash at Rolica scheduled for a July release.
