Developer Needed for MODERN NAVAL BATTLES DELUXE |
Good News! MODERN NAVAL BATTLES DELUXE is ready for development.
Bad News! We don't have a developer for the project.
So, we've decided to use the wonderful resources of the World Wide Web to find one.
Here's the deal: One Small Step is accepting applications for this esteemed position. What you need to do is show us that you have an understanding of the charm of the original game from 3W. Write us a short description of what you think it was and email it to us atoss@jps.net. You also must show us you've had experience in game design, development, or at least playtesting.
What do you get? The chosen developer will get credit. And as if that's not enough, you'll also get a check for $300 in advance.
Development details
The new design retains many similarities to the original, but has many significant changes, additions, and subtractions. The duties of the developer are to insure that the game retains the same level of playability and charm of the original game, but also reduces many of the random elements associated with winning the previous version. In other words, in the version we're creating we want the better player to win, not the luckiest.
Playtesting will be held online in the playtesting forum of our Web site's bulletin board, conducted in the public spotlight. In addition to the select people chosen by the developer to playtest the game, anyone will be able to download Black and White beta versions of the game and start playtesting on their own (a Ronin playtester, if you will). They will be able to throw in their comments as well.
Ultimately, the developer will be the final arbiter of the final version of the game, subject to veto of the designersledgehammer@jps.net and publisher
oss@jps.net.
A page will be added to our site shortly where info about the game, graphic samples, beta downloads, and online ordering info will be available. This game will utilize GMT's system P500 (probably P300 in our case), meaning that when we get 300 preorders we print the game. No one gets charged 'till the game goes to the printer.
So there it is. Enjoy.
