One Small Step has negotiated with designer Bill Banks and he has agreed to allow us to publish the ANCIENTS game (originally published by 3W) electronically as freeware.
OSS will begin converting all of the game components to PDF files which can be downloaded, then read and printed with Adobe Acrobat Reader. All the maps and counters will be posted in their originally published form, as will the new maps that were generated and published in the pages of GameFix and Competitive Edge.
OSS invites anyone who has done any conversions, additions, or any other work related to ANCIENTS to forward it to us and we will include it with the other ANCIENTS materials. We've just begun the process of converting the game and we are waiting on some of the original counter art to come from Beth Queman. It'll all be going up at our Web site soon!
OSS Looks to the Internet
The company's future is expected to be largely grounded in Internet delivery. Several projects on the drawing board include online head-to-head gaming and play-by-email implementation of several game titles. This has come about as Jon Compton is professionally involved in Internet Publishing and is expected to implement his developing skills in this area to further promote his company and its products. Of further note is the intention to place all game titles in PDF Format (black and white) for free evaluation purposes, while also pursing a P300 Plan (similar to GMT Games P500 Plan), in which titles are not committed to publication until a certain unit presales level is achieved.
