After considerable thought and discussion, Mike Anderson and I have come to a decision about Competitive Edge (CE) magazine.
The bad news: CE will be cut back to a bi-annual publications schedule. We're going to knock the size back to 8.5x11, and go with a color cover and B&W interior. The components will be either low color, full color, or B&W as the game inside demands. If we can find a cheap way to print on stickyback paper, we'll do so, otherwise the game pieces will probably be printed on paper.
The good news: We are going to re-launch GameFix magazine. It too will have a bi-annual publication cycle, but will be more traditional in approach and focus entirely on historical war games. It will have a color cover with B&W interior. Game components will be produced in whatever format is appropriate and least expensive.
So there it is, the latest and greatest. Mike Anderson will be editor of CE and I will resume as editor of GameFix. GF will resume it's industry news section, contain my grumpy editorials, and perhaps a game review or two. CE will contain whatever whacky stuff Mike comes up with. I'll try to post a schedule for GF as soon as possible. Right now it looks like the first game will be a small tactical WWII game called Foxhole (designed by yours truly). As always, I'm interested in any submissions anyone would care to make, but keep in mind we can't afford to pay very much. Thanks again for your interest and support!
