  • Mirco Corazza: I'm writing from Italy. I have written a quite simple but -- I think-- playable game on the aerial fighting during WWII. I'm looking for someone to read it and give me a brief opinion. If there is a such person (or group of persons) I can send him a copy of the rulebook. Thank you and greetings.
  • John Kranz: I'd recommend you consider opening an individual game topic on your design at our CSW Forum. You can post your rules there. If you need assistance with this, contact me directly. Thanks!
Why don't you have a sell, swap and trade area? Where is the best place for me to unload a lot of my old wargames. — Asked by Anonymous

Actually, we do have a Marketplace topic for anyone wishing to buy, sell, trade, etc. There are many listings each day!

Where can I find the card protectors that will fit the cards in my Victory Point Games? — Asked by Anonymous

Please try your local comic book store. That should hopefully do the trick!

The rules to the current Rommel at Gazala say they are "updated". Exactly what was "updated"? I own a previous version of this game and am trying to figure out what has been updated. Any help would be great! Thanks! And CONSIMWORLD is an awesome website! — Asked by Anonymous

I got clarification from James Werbaneth and we had a miscommunication about the rules. They are the same as in previous editions. Sorry for any confusion caused!

I donated $10 to Consimworld, but didn't receive any e-mails concerning the free game downloads. Then I e-mailed you concerning it. You sure took my money, but I haven't heard a word from you. If you aren't going to provide the games you claimed you were, then I want my money back. — Asked by Anonymous

Getting the donation emails to each individual who contributes is our #1 priority. It’s a small miracle every time someone donates to us, so of course customer service is critical.

For anyone who has not received an email by now (for whatever reason), PLEASE contact us directly at kranz@consimworld.com so we can properly service your issue (SPAM filters may be intercepting our email since it includes links — so please ‘whitelist’ our consimworld.com domain to avoid mail delivery being blocked). If you are not getting a reply (regardless of where the problem lies), please include your email address when submitting a question to us from this site (“Ask Me Anything” option). Thank you again for your support!

P.S. Questions submitted via Anonymous can not be followed-up on privately since no email/contact info is disclosed.

I made a $25 donation to the CSW drive. I guess I'm supposed to get 4 print-and-play games. Do these become available after the drive is over? No rush, but just curious how this works out. -- Dave — Asked by Anonymous

First, thank you very much for the support, Dave. Anyone who has contributed to the CSW Donation Drive should have already received emails regarding the free game downloads. If you did not, please contact me directly at kranz@consimworld.com. Donation drive ends on Jan. 31. We will also be sending publisher-direct discounts to all who have donated (from more than 20 publishers) on Jan. 31 — so you can recoup some or all of your donation dollars through these exclusive offers with special savings.

Where can I find counter scans? — Asked by Anonymous

Our Links page includes some helpful resources, including publisher web sites. isimulacrum.com is a great resource for counter scans.

Is there a list of the benefits for donating to CSW at the $10 or $25 levels? You mention that the game companies participating have different levels of savings and specials depending on the level of contribution, but I can't find the details of these offers anywhere. And is there a list of the free print-n-play games being offered? — Asked by Anonymous

Yes, fair question! Our donation drive announcement lists most of the 23 publishers who are providing discounts (more publishers have joined in). We have announced one of the four FREE games already, but to be honest, we try not to get into the details of the specific promo up front because we are asking for our audience to consider donating and all these freebies and specials are meant as icing on the cake to help everyone recoup some or all of their donation pledge. I hope that makes sense — not the answer you want, but we prefer sticking with the message we have made and hopefully the freebies and specials will all be pleasant surprises to all who donate and support CSW.

First and foremost, we strike with the goal that everyone considers CSW to be a valued resource and effort worthy of their support (independent of any perks we have been able to arrange as our small way of saying, ‘thank you’). To be honest, our efforts are falling short if someone needs to know the payoff of perks offered before deciding to donate or not…so we still have some work to do! I can’t imagine someone not feeling they’ve gotten back their $10 donation, for example, based on the freebies and specials we have in store. And I thank you for your consideration! Without your support and positive word-of-mouth, we wouldn’t be here!

I want to post a favorable comment about Grognard Simulations, Inc. where it might do the most good. Which forum(s) would that be? — Asked by Anonymous

Very sporting of you! I would recommend their game company support topic. They also have individual game topics as well…but I think this topic would be a great start! You just need a Forum account which you can request here.

Who is ER Bickford and does he have a life outside of wargaming? — Asked by Anonymous

We are attempting to clone him as we are Marco Arnaudo who does game review videos. ;-)

In all seriousness, we understand ER may be on extended holiday and really applying himself to play and report on a bunch of games. We’re glad he’s sharing with us!…and, yes, we are jealous of all the games he is finding time to play as well. [ER Bickford’s game replay blog]

Here are two previous news stories we ran that reviewed this game [review1 | review2] and I’m sure there are more on the BGG game page. I also recommend our dedicated discussion topic for a complete fix (3,000+ postings!)

are there any new block games released? — Asked by Anonymous

If you view our tagged news stories for “block games”, you will quickly note several Commands & Colors expansions from GMT Games, as well as Strike of the Eagle and Crusader Rex, 2nd Edition. Hope this helps!

You can also view all new releases by clicking on our “New Release” button in the left sidebar area.

Is there such a thing as a wargame dictionary or catalog of rules and techniques? — Asked by Anonymous

I would recommend Alan Emrich’s Principles of Game Design which he has taught at the Art Institute. Several books have been published on board wargames as well by James F. Dunnigan, Nicolas Palmer, and Peter Perla to name a few. We also have a forum topic that discusses game design theory.

I wish to buy a game like "Paths of Glory" (same style not the period of time) but easier and with a less playing time. Can you recommend me, please, a such of game? Thank you very much, cristian. — Asked by Anonymous

Very good question. There are so many “card-driven” games to choose from. Here’s a sampling from boardgamegeek just to show you how many titles out there are classified this way. There are a lot of choices out there, so it would help if you could pick a particular period in history. Here’s a dedicated discussion on card-driven games that you may find helpful as well! Quite a few publishers are actively producing such games — GMT Games, Compass Games, Multi-Man Publishing…just to name a few.
