Division-level system for ACW operations and major battles.

The system is closely based on the one from Hampton Newsome's At All Hazards (Ivy Street Games). Divisions are activated by chitpull. Fatigue and supply state of units are tracked off-map. This system uniquely illustrates the factors that determined, beyond mere numbers of men, the readiness of a unit for battle, and thus controlled the ebb and flow of operations. The scale makes large multiday battles (e.g,. Gettysburg) playable in an evening.

Released:

  • Corinth (2016): 2nd Battle of Corinth, 3-4 October 1862. 75 minutes playing time.

Current projects (may not appear in that order):

  • One-Session Gettysburg: the 3 days of battle, 3 hours playing time (remake of Newsome game).
  • Lee Against Meade: The campaigns of Gettysburg and Mine Run (Mine Run as remake of Newsome game)
  • The Seven Days: eponymous
  • Campaigns of Manassas
  • Murfreesboro

Blue: available (click on the name to get to the BGG page), Red: release imminent,Green: in testing, Black: in design, Gray: under consideration.

You lose one on your effectiveness rating.

The next game in the March Into Battle series, One Session Gettysburg is now up for pre-order. If you are interested in a copy please send me an e-mail (topkat@chariot.net.au), I will keep track of the pre-order number in the CHS folder on CSW. Once we have reached the pre-order number (80) the game will go into print and those people who registered an interest will be able to purchase the game for $27 US, (Normal RRP is $30US) and this price includes postage. The delays to this game were entirely due to me, Markus delivered all the files late last year and a proof copy was done but then other things kept me from progressing the game until now.

    Looks cool!

(BTW, in the header, shouldn't that be Ivy Street Games? :) )

For those who would like to get a look at the game, here is a photo of the sample copy my printer did for us. I thought I had posted this awhile back, but I can't find it....... :(

Minor update: I added the new CHS logo to the cover, and made a last streamlining change to the series rules (the corps commander and army commander rules were in different places, they are now together). The only thing left to do is a final review of the game specific rules and I want to go over the victory conditions again.

    But about that map.....

It does work with the game. A bigger map for Lee Against Meade would not be tied to the same terrain analysis.

Chris' printing shop has shut down operations for a couple of weeks, so I have time for a last go at the victory conditions.

Another ftf playtest, the victory conditions seemed to hold up. May try for another one next week. Playing time against Darren who had never played was 4 hours, which is a bit above spec, but normally I assume first games take double the time so I think we were still in the ballpark.

By the way Rick, your shipment arrived safe and sound.

Good to know - sometimes those Orcs in NZ can get in the way!

Did the sales on One Session Gettysburg stall? Unfortunate, if so--been looking forward to getting it into action.

Not the sales. Real Life (TM) got in the way on the home straight. I've been dragging my copy in the suitcase since August.

Some minor mods made and a decision to include something that I had been mulling for a long time. I am still a bit worried about one aspect, so I've decided a bit more testing is needed. Ironically, this affects at most a couple of paragraphs' worth, but it's an important part.
