Release schedule

This looks like the release schedule for the coming months:

May: Alfred the Great, Volume 2. Mark Sheppard designer with graphics by Bruce Yearian.

June: Blood and Carnage: The Battle of Komsomolskoye. Perry Moore designer with graphics by Antonio Pinar Pena.

July: Nemesis! The Battle of Abbey Ardenne. Paul Rohrbaugh designer with graphics by Bruce Yearian.

August: Innocence Lost: The First Battle of Bull Run. Roberto Chiavini designer with graphics by Bruce Yearian.

September: The Price of Honor: The Battle of Callao. Paul Rohrbaugh designer with graphics by Bruce Yearian.

October: A Long, Hard Road: The Battle of Dubno. Paul Rohrbaugh designer with graphics by Bruce Yearian.

After that the releases will depend on what the playtesters finish up and the schedules for Antonio and Bruce. We do have 2 other professional games in the works, as well as several other new DTP titles.

I am still in need of playtesters for these games:

Hot Fight in Mississippi, the 1862 Campaign in the West by John Theissen.

Forgotten Fight: The Overloon Campaign.

Hell in the Holy Land: The First and Second Battles for Gaza

Black Lions' Roar: The Battle for Catigny

To Rule the Waves: Naval Battles of the 1880s in the Mediterranean.

If you and a gaming partner would like to help out with any of these please contact me.

Can we order the second Alfred game with mounted counters also at an additional cost?

Yes, all of the DTP titles can be had with mounted counters for an additional $5.00.

All of the Professional Series games (currently Bad Moon Rising, Bloody Hell, September's Eagles, Test of Mettle) come with with die cut counters, so there is no additional charge for those titles.

We do have 2 other professional games in the works

And what might these games be?

And what might these games be?

Glad you asked, Mike!

Fortunate Sons: The Anonymous Battle, March 1970. This is the "companion" game to the newly released Bad Moon Rising, having the same scale and design.

Bloody Dawns: The Iran-Iraq War, 1980-1988. This game is by Pierre Razouz, the author of the excellent book on the conflict that was published last year and is garnering great reviews.

If possible, I'm going to try to "Shoe horn in" a minigame on the first big tank battle of the Iran-Iraq War, the Battle of Hoveyzeh. This will also have die cut counters and be included in with Bloody Dawns.

We hope to wrap up playtesting with all of these games sometime in the fall, so we can release them in early 2017. Stay tuned!

Terrific, I was impressed with the quality of the first two Professional Series games that I own and was hoping for a few more in that line. September's Eagles is not really my thing and I don't own it, but I'm interested in both of those upcoming titles.

Mike Holmes - Apr 30, 2016 7:22 pm (#1937 Total: 3580)

[Holmes, Mike]
Wait, I just realized that you have Bad Moon Rising listed as a Professional Series game. How did I miss that?

Paul Rohrbaugh - May 1, 2016 7:51 am (#1938 Total: 3580)

[Rohrbaugh, Paul]
Well, we just released it Mike!

As the earlier Professional Series titles start to sell out I'll bring out more. I only have so much room in my basement. Stocks of Bloody Hell, Test of Mettle and September's Eagles are starting to get low...

Alfred the Great Volume II

Alfred the Great, Volume II: War in the West Country, 876 AD is finished. Attached is a picture of the game's components fresh from the printer. Each copy of Alfred the Great, Volume II is composed of the following:

One 11 by 17 inch hex map

Two sheets of 195 (total) single-sided, un-mounted counters

Three cardstock Battle Boards (1x Viking, 1x Briton, 1x Saxon)

One Players' Aid Sheet

One sheet of charts and tables

One 7 page rule book with examples of play and Designer's Notes

Alfred the Great,Volume II sells for the same price as Volume I, $14.95 plus shipping. Mounted counters can be had for an additional $5.00. You do not need Volume I to play Volume II as they are both stand-alone games, but do share a common design "platform". Those familiar with Volume I will be able to dive right in a begin playing in no time. As soon as Bruce finishes updating the website and order form this game will be available.

Blood and Carnage

Antonio just sent me the attached first draft of the map for Blood and Carnage: The Battle of Komsomolskoye. This is the "sister" game to Perry Moore's Valor and Vengeance. If all goes as planned we should have this ready for release sometime in June. Stay tuned!

All those candy buildings look yummy. They certainly evoke a "carnage" mood.

Building height levels and type

I have the original Firefight edition. While I don't have the map in front of me, I recall there were different buildings indicating wood or stone structures. I want to say there were also some two-story structures in the town, but I don't remember.

I can't really tell from looking at the map if the structures are to be differentiated. It kind of reminds me of a 'Crystal Clear' game board.

I am getting a vague flashback to the pastel colors from Bear Trap that caused some people angst. Recall how somebody re-did that map to make it all drab and grey and depressing? I think that's the way to go here. Rather than an idyllic town in the shire, it should have a haunted look. Sort of like the Blood and Vengeance map.

Crystal Clear

[Fawcett, Chris]
Well, we have hexsides running right through some of these buildings, and buildings of different colors within the hex, so if there is supposed to be some game function to all those colors, we'll have some issues straightaway.

Paul Rohrbaugh - May 5, 2016 1:54 pm (#1947 Total: 3580)

[Rohrbaugh, Paul]
This is just a first draft, folks. Antonio will be doing plenty of refining and "tweaking" as he gets it finished. The game uses the same design as Valor and Vengeance. There are indeed stone and wood building terrain differences. The game is much revised from the Fire Fight Games edition, including fewer levels of terrain and revised Russian OOB.

I'm confident Antonio will turn in another "graphical stunner" as he's done all along since his debut with High Flying Dice Games.

Rodger all. Always enjoy looking at Antonio's work.

Any upgrade on the Firefight graphics earns Antonio a humanitarian award.. :pbpt:

Blood and Carnage Map

Hello guys, I am reading all the comments about the B&C Map v.0 (first draft version)... as Paul said, I am refining the artwork to fix all the problems the current map version presents.

I want to send a big thanks to all you who commented about the map, since your comments and constructive critics are helping me to improve the map to find the best possible balance between chrome (good-looking) and playability...

Antonio

Blood and Carnage Map Draft, Take Two

Here is Antonio's second take of the Blood and Carnage map. As you can tell he's taken some of the comments to heart. The grey building icons are stone, the brown are wood.

I think he's doing splendid work. The counter art will likely be similar to that he made for Valor and Vengeance. The games share a common design, and the battles were fought within days of one another.

Let the dice fly high!
